the ropes is dead

THE ROPES are no more.  There is another band called THE ROPES and they had the foresight to get a trademark on the name.  They have threatened our label and promoters with legal action ($$$) if they continue to work with us.  We felt it was unfair that those who released and promoted our music to be subject to lawsuits, etc.  The Ropes LP that was recorded and scheduled for release is cancelled.

We have a few T-Shirts left over for sale at repos.bigcartel.com.  We will be getting some tapes from the most recent Youth Attack update which we will be selling there as well.

We have decided to continue making music under the name THE REPOS.  A ton of cool shit happening in the near future including two new 7"s, a couple of compilation appearances and we will be playing with LOS CRUDOS in March.  New REPOS LP in 2013.

News

Happenings:

Playing a show in Hammond, IN at a bar called the Fifth Amendment this Saturday July 7th. Sunday is my wifes birthday, please send regards in person.

Playing a show in Chicago Tuesday July 10th. Aarons birthday is the 13th and mine is the 14th. Early birthday wishes welcomed and encouraged.

Playing shows in Indianapolis and Cleveland in early September. We will have a 7" on Cowabunga that will be part of their singles club. We will have a few copies of this record for sale at these shows, but only 500 will be pressed, so don't snooze. Music has been recorded for this record and Aaron will be doing vocals this week.

Long time Repos/Ropes bass player Adam Sharani has parted ways with the band due to increasing personal commitments. The split is amicable and we all wish Adam the best of luck with his family and any future creative endeavors.

The Ropes have a new bass player named Andrew who is a total dude.

The Ropes LP is still being held up by technology. Any orders for tapes from me are going out this week, sorry for the delay. Papa bear hibernates in the summertime.

Songs for the LP are written, will be going into the studio soon.  All new, all great.

I got a box of represses from Youth Attack.  If you missed it, let me know, maybe we can work something out.  MAYBE.  An essay describing the finer points of the films Tango and Cash or Above the Law will help your case.

Hopefully we will play a show soon, nothing planned at the moment though.

Nothing planned after that.  Next show will probably be for the release of the Youth Attack LP sometime before the end of 2011.  We will be spending the summer cooped up in a world class recording studio writing and recording our magnum opus while you are falling in love with some other band. But we will be thinking about you. Dreaming about you. Wishing WE were the band playing the blowout summer jam you travelled across the country for to see 70 OTHER bands.  But don't be alarmed!  We will be penning more of the tender ballads and bouncy teen pop anthems we have become known for.
